What is a dicentric chromosome?
Dicentric chromosome (DC) is an abnormal chromosome formed in the circulating blood lymphocytes of humans after exposure to ionizing radiation. DC has two constriction points (marked with arrows in the figure shown below) due to illegitimate rejoining of two or more broken chromosomes after radiation exposure.

What DC is used for?
DC is used for estimating the radiation dose absorbed by humans and the frequency of DC depends on radiation dose.

What is the purpose of DC challenge game?
The purpose of this game is to educate and train people in DC identification/scoring. Additionally, the game will help us in identifying proficient DC scorers who can augment CBL’s capability to provide a timely dose assessment for a large number of exposed people during radiological/nuclear incidents.
